FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1.) How do I get badges or membership stars for my daughter if her Leader doesn't get them? Contact her local Membership Specialist at the Indian Hills Council. The Specialist will be happy to help you. See the Contact Us page for reference.

What Training's do I have to have as  a new leader?

Orientation with either your Membership Specialist or Service Unit Manager, Intro. to Girl Scouting (Home Study Course), Basic Leader Training. We also require First Aid/CPR for any field trips, day trips, & Camping.  We also require Adult Troop Camper for any troop wishing to camp. 

5.) How do I register as a Volunteer? Contact the Indian Hills Council Office. You will be directed to the appropriate staff person dependent upon the type of volunteering you would like to do or is available. See the Contact Us page for reference.
6.) Who should be registered in my troop? All members of the troop needs to be registered.  Also, any parent that volunteers to drive to an event as well as any parent who stays at the meetings.

How do I open a bank account?

All bank accounts have to have two signatories as well as your Membership Specialist listed on the account.  Contact your Membership specialist to set an appointment to meet at the bank to open the account.

8.) Why aren't there any First Aid/CPR training's in my area?

There can be a training in your area if there are 6 or more interested registered volunteers.

How much do I ask for in dues?

The amount is under the leader's discretion.  Many leaders ask for $10-20 dollars in the Fall and then again in the Spring. 

10.) What is required to do our own fundraiser?

The Troop needs to participate in both the QSP/NUT sale and the Cookie sale to be eligible to do their own fundraiser.  Appropriate fundraiser's are listed in "Safety-Wise".

Where should my troop meet?

We recommend meeting in a school, church or public facility.

Do we ask for health records?

Due to New York State HIPPA laws, we do not ask for health records.

13.) Who do I sign up with, for Training's & Programs? Registration forms are available online and at all Council Offices. Call the Registrar if you need help at (607) 724-6572, Ext. 100.
